James V. Carisella originally hails from Wakefield, Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University (NU) in 1973, a Master of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and a Doctor of Science Degree in Material Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1975 and 1978, respectively. During his under-graduate years at NU he was employed in a co-op job at Cryogenic Technologies, Inc. (CT,i in Waltham, MA) where he developed his fundamental engineering skills. He graduated from NU with years of experience as a Design Engineer. During his graduate years at MIT he collaborated with numerous faculty members to provide consulting services to the auto, aerospace, medical, and other industries.

Dr. Carisella’s post-graduate career began at Shell Development Company in Houston, Texas where he conducted materials research in support of Shell Oil Company and Shell Chemical Company. During his tenure at Shell, he had numerous assignments involving; Applied Research, Production Engineering, Reservoir Engineering and Consulting Support to Shell US Company affiliates. In 1985 Dr. Carisella departed Shell to start Associated Technologies, Inc (AT,i), a technical consulting company. Associated Technologies, Inc. conducts research and development projects for a broad range of industrial clients.

Dr. Carisella is named as the principal inventor of 32 US and international patents
